Duval FLEX Enrollment

Duval FLEX lets Mandarin students take or retake individual courses online, outside their regular class schedule, through the Duval Virtual Instruction Academy.

What is Duval FLEX

Duval FLEX is the part-time program of the Duval Virtual Instruction Academy (DVIA). Students who attend a brick-and-mortar school like Mandarin can take one or more courses online while staying enrolled at their home school. Home education students can also register.

The program is asynchronous, so students access the curriculum around the clock and set their own pace. You learn through recorded modules and live sessions with state-certified teachers.

Who it is for

  • Recovering credit for a course you did not pass.
  • Getting ahead or accelerating toward graduation.
  • Fitting a class that does not work in your bell schedule.
  • Home education students who want individual DCPS courses.

Step 1: Talk to your counselor

Before requesting anything in the system, talk to your school counselor. Courses must fit your graduation plan and be approved, and your counselor is the one who gives final sign-off on every course request.

Step 2: Request your courses at duvalflex.org

Course requests are self-service through duvalflex.org. The steps are the same whether you already have an account or need to create one.

  1. Go to duvalflex.org and click the Request Courses tab.
  2. Pick the login page for your student type: Duval Public School Students, Duval Home School Students, or Duval Private Pay Students.
  3. Already have a username and password? Log in and click Continue, then skip to Step 4 below.
    Need an account? Click "click here to create a new account," select Middle or High School, and complete the form and answer every question highlighted in yellow. If you had a DVIA account in the past, you cannot reuse that username for a Duval FLEX account.
  4. Search the course catalog by title or subject and click Apply Filter. See the full Duval FLEX course list for Mandarin-relevant options by subject.
  5. Check the box next to each course you plan to take and click Register. If a course has both a semester A and semester B, only request semester A first. You request semester B once you finish semester A.
  6. Review your Course Summary. Click Next if it's correct, or Change Courses to add or remove something.
  7. Click Confirm.

Step 3: Wait for counselor approval

Once you confirm your course selections, an approval request is emailed automatically to the school counselor listed on your account. After your counselor approves it, you'll get an email telling you the course is ready to start.

Forgot your username or password? Use the "Forgot your username and/or password?" link on the login page rather than creating a second account.

Tip: Online courses move at your pace, but they still have deadlines. Set a weekly schedule so you finish on time.
