Duval County Public Schools classifies high school students by credits earned, following the district Student Progression Plan. It is not just the total credits that matter: certain core subjects are required within that total at each level. Falling short on either the credit count or the required subjects can hold a student at their current grade level until the gap is recovered.
Promotion requirements by grade

It is not just the total that counts. A student can have enough total credits but still be held at a grade level if the required English, Math, or Science credits within that total are missing. Check both columns with your counselor.

How to check where you stand
- Log in to the student/parent portal to view earned credits and current grades.
- Request a credit audit from your school counselor at least once a year.
- Check both your total credit count and your subject-area credits against the table above.
- Compare your full picture to the graduation requirements to spot gaps early.
