What the CLT is
The CLT is a 2-hour, 120-question college entrance exam, scored on a 0 to 120 scale, built around three sections: Verbal Reasoning, Grammar & Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning. It's run by a separate testing organization from the College Board (SAT) or ACT, Inc. (ACT), and is designed as an alternative to both.

Where it's accepted
Florida's Board of Governors approved the CLT as an accepted admissions test at every Florida public university, and it's also accepted at a number of Florida private colleges. Outside Florida, an increasing number of colleges nationally accept the CLT as well; check a specific school's admissions page to confirm.
The CLT and Bright Futures
Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship Program accepts CLT scores in place of an SAT or ACT score, and Bright Futures superscores the CLT the same way it does the SAT and ACT (using a student's best section scores across attempts). How to register
- Go to cltexam.com and create a free account.
- Choose an available test date. At-home, remotely proctored test dates are offered throughout the year in addition to in-person testing sites.
- Fill out a brief student profile.
- Pay the registration fee online to complete registration ($112; apply early for financial assistance if cost is a barrier).
Free official practice
The CLT's own site offers free practice tests and sample questions once a student creates an account, and is the most accurate way to practice the exam's actual format. Khan Academy does not have a CLT-specific course, but its general math, grammar, and reading comprehension lessons cover much of the same underlying skills as the CLT's Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning & Grammar sections.
